Raymond Kerckhoffs introduces the AIJC board, the 2013 goals and goes through the meetings points.

For the Grand Tours, Alasdair Fotheringham is working with Unipublic, Gregor Brown with RCS Sport and Gilles Le Roc’h with ASO.

The AIJC met with Michele Acquarone and RCS during the Tirreno-Adriatico. Brown explains that RCS has been asked to consider sign-in times, pressroom locations, result sheets and internet costs.

Raymond Kerckhoffs explains his discussions with the UCI regarding new rules for in-race driving licences.

– With AIJC’s help, the UCI organised its first driving course ahead of the Amstel Gold Race.

– The next meetings are before the Giro, Dauphine and Suisse.

Alasdair Fotheringham says that he will meet with Unipublic in June regarding the Vuelta. Reminds members with questions to contact him via e-mail on AIJC website.

A press officer working group is taking shape with Alessandro Tegner’s input and the help of Stephen Farrand. Farrand will work with Kerckhoffs and other press officers to move forward.

– Tegner suggested having the pre-Flanders and -Roubaix press conference with Cancellara and Boonen together.

Kerckhoffs and Gilles Le Roc’h will meet with ASO regarding Tour de France issues in the Dauphine.

Kerckhoffs is considering appointing Laura Weislo as a US point of reference, working with Andy Hood and US race organisers.

The AIJC will organise a dinner at the Tour and meet again at the World Championships in Florence.

Kerckhoffs opens the meeting to questions.

– Better finish press areas in the Grand Tours?

AIJC talked with RCS about this. It’s a matter of money. Teams, such as Omega, are considering TVs outside their buses.

– Criteria to become AIJC member?

Person needs to be professional making money from journalism.

– Insurance for members?

Alasdair Fotheringham is talking to insurance companies. He spoke with AG2R, but without result. He is now reaching out to Spanish companies. The idea is to cover equipment at races, etc.

– Central press conference location for Grand Tours?

This idea will be proposed to the teams ahead of the Giro (this week) and the Tour.
